Bentonite waterproof blankets/waterproof mats
Short Description:
I. Product Specifications: Unit area mass ≥ 4000g/㎡, width 4-6m.
II. Functional Characteristics
Compared to compacted clay liners, it has advantages such as small volume, light weight, good flexibility, good density performance, high shear strength, simple construction, and adaptability to uneven settlement.
The mineralogical name for bentonite is montmorillonite. Natural bentonite is mainly divided into two categories according to its chemical composition: sodium-based and calcium-based. Bentonite has the characteristic of swelling upon contact with water. Generally, calcium-based bentonite expands to only about three times its own volume when it swells, while sodium-based bentonite absorbs five times its own weight in water, expanding to more than 15-17 times its original volume. Locking sodium-based bentonite between two layers of geosynthetic material provides protection and reinforcement, giving the GCL a certain overall shear strength.
III. Product Application
Benton waterproof blankets are geosynthetic materials specifically designed for seepage prevention in artificial lakes and water features, landfills, underground garages, rooftop gardens, pools, oil depots, and chemical storage areas. They consist of highly expansive sodium-based bentonite filled between specially made composite geotextile and non-woven fabric. The bentonite waterproofing mat, manufactured using a needle-punching method, forms numerous small fiber spaces, preventing the bentonite particles from flowing in one direction. Upon contact with water, it forms a uniform, high-density gel-like waterproof layer within the mat, effectively preventing water leakage.
